Cookie Box in My Driveway Poem

I see a cookie box in my driveway,
and I didn't put it there.
What idiot threw it down?
I guess the person didn't care.

There's a cookie box in my driveway.
I hoped that it would blow away.
Making the neighborhood look trashy...
It's been lying there all day.

Look at the cookie box in my driveway.
Now it's wet and muddy too.
The jerk should've used a garbage can.
There's only one thing left to do...

I'll throw it away! 

Heart-Shaped Potato Poem

Heart-Shaped Potato
 
A heart-shaped potato is a sight to see
If you ever find one you'll be full of glee

We all need food
We all need love
Feeling kindness within like a peace dove

A heart-shaped potato represents so much more
A great plant for eating feeding rich and poor
Food for the body and love for the soul
With those two things we begin to feel whole. 

Beware of Latex Free Gloves

The warning message on the package of my latex free gloves.

Even though I'm not allergic to latex I try to stay away from it, because
I've heard that some people have all of the sudden become allergic. I
bought three packages of gloves that were brightly labeled on the front
they were latex free. A week later, I noticed that on the back of one of
the packages there was a warning: This product contains a chemical
known to the state of California to cause cancer. Trying to stay away
from latex, I ended up buying gloves made of cancer causing vinyl.
Note to self...Stay away from latex, vinyl, not sure what else yet.

When I'm out shopping I read a lot of  labels, but the day I bought the
gloves I didn't read the labels thoroughly enough. Oh well, next time I'll
try to protect my health a little better.

Are Green Potatoes Harmful?

Before the potato is cut there is a slight green tint to it. After I cut the
potato, the green of the skin is quite noticeable.

I've heard that you shouldn't eat green potatoes, but I never thought that
much about it. I decided to research what I figured was some sort of myth.
I found a lot of information that supported the fact that green potatoes are
harmful to human health. On livestrong.com, I read that exposure to too
much sunlight causes the skin of the potato to turn green. The green part
of the potato is considered toxic because it contains a chemical called
solanine, and it could cause you to become sick.

Mattress Cover Chemicals

The warning message from the mattress cover I almost bought.

I've been buying waterproof mattress covers for at least 15 years, but until
the other day, I didn't realize I'd been buying mattress covers that contained
cancer causing chemicals.

What usually determines my choice of mattress cover is the size I need and
the price, but this time I noticed there was a huge warning on the back of
the mattress cover package I was about to choose. I felt mad when I read
the warning and I wondered... How long has this cover been causing cancer, 
birth defects, and reproductive harm? Why haven't I seen this warning be-
fore? People sleep on these things, and they cause cancer! I looked around
at other waterproof mattress covers, and the covers that contained 100 per-
cent vinyl were the covers that had a warning. The more expensive water-
proof covers had a polyurethane laminate and they did not have a warning
on them. I ended up buying one of those.

I decided to research polyurethane laminate and according to the Washing-
ton Toxics Coalition website, polyurethane laminate is a better choice than
vinyl.

If you're going to purchase a mattress cover, be sure to read the package
front and back, so you know if you're possibly doing harm to your body.
